Hello Friends,
I have been using my backyard grill to bake and roast recently.
I made a meat loaf and roasted a chicken. You just heat the grill to the baking temp, put your food in a dutch over with the top on and bake it in the grill, just like in an oven.
Dutch ovens are GREAT. You can even cook in a dutch oven with coals below and above (although for many of us the gas grill has a thermometer that tells you what the temp is and this makes it easier to know how long to cook).
I did it to keep the temperature in my kitchen down, but it is a good alternative if you are without inside power.
Fantastic, Pat!
This is encouraging. Tell me – is your Dutch oven cast iron? If so, does it have feet or not? I’m trying to decide what to get for my house in case we want to use either our wood-burning fireplace or our outdoor grill – both of which have grates.
And – do you have a favorite brand? I’m trying to decide between the less expensive sand-cast (slightly pebbled interior) or the more expensive machined interior .
HI, Worldwide community- I wanted to share with you that this Saturday, July 23rd, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. a group of us will be handing out Free Emergency Preparedness Booklets to the public. We will be in front of a health food store called Natural Grocers in Denver, Co. The address is 4900 Kipling Street
Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Come by and say hello:) We are so excited to be doing this for the first time and hope to do many more locations in Colorado. Maybe you could do this too, in your hometown. Email me if you’d like some help or have questions. jetjreed@gmail.com We are stronger together!! Much love to all of you, Jet
HI Jet,
How did it go on Saturday?
Another way I’ve been getting the booklet out is using our little neighborhood “libraries” that you see people have in their yards here, where you can trade out books with your neighbors….I’ve been keeping a par stock of 5 booklets in 2 of these libraries and find that I need to restock them fairly regularly…..
Love,
Donna
Hi, Jet –
I’ve been visiting neighbors who are eager to receive the EP booklet. Do you know how we can get stickers to change the contact information on the back cover?
Love, Mary

Hello. After our recent events, I am updating my document folder. I found a “chicken soup” Emergency Information form on the Learning Center. It has a revision date of 2005. Is this the most up to date form? Or is there a newer one created for our EP modules? Thank you.
I am really looking forward to the Emergency Preparedness Course on June 11. I appreciate already all of the preparations made by Mary and Bartley and everyone else. This is such a critical time to get this information and put it all into action – together.
Thanks, Linda –
Bartleby, Mark and I are also looking forward to this upcoming presentation. Certainly Europe has been busy exploring all their possible options in view of the war in Ukraine, and they have a bit of a head start regarding preparing for evacuation!
And – this topic is sobering for all of us. we’ve all been involved in hurricanes, wildfires, smoke, floods, heat, drought – so many reasons to be prepared for so many possibilities. Holding hands together, we walk through the earth changes and persist in living and giving from love.
Dear Leslie, dear Linda, dear friends,
thank you for your thoughts and prayers. A war happening so close to us is a wake up call for me. I am so grateful to have the guidance from Kalindi since years to prepare myself for emergency situations. I can stay calm because I have prepared myself. To see all this on tv, the refugees, the bombing, the suffering of the people is heartbreaking and hard to stand! The best way for me to not feel helpless is to go into action, to prepare even more, to meditate and pray and to talk with friends. We all stand together! Much love, Doris
Thank you, Doris for sharing the closeness to the war that is happening with Russia and Ukraine. It is very disturbing and scary for all of us even if we are not in Europe. I hold you all who are closer to these countries in my heart and prayers every day. I only know that I have to give love to all I come in contact with every moment. If I am triggered by someone, I quickly remember that I love that person and send those loving thoughts to them. I also am finding that I have to have more love and forgiveness for myself in those moments.
After looking at the news today and seeing the maternity hospital that was bombed, I cry and am so devastated. I look at the news every day and hope that the war ends. I don’t know if it will, so I have to pray to God to help us all.
All my love Kathleen
Thank you for your inspiration, dear Kathleen, I pray intensely that the war will stop and my heart is bleeding seeing all this terror, fear, destruction, pain and death!
Sending you my love, too! Doris
We already formed 2 small units, each of 4 people who live close to each other, so we can prepare together for an emergency situation, knowing what everyone needs and to help each other. This is so inspiring and very supportive.
Hi Doris,
Thank you so much for writing about what is happening for the Munich community and how you are preparing. I have been wondering what you are going through with the war so close by. Anything you are able to share is most welcome. You and all those affected by the war are in our prayers.
Love,
Leslie
Correction: over 600.000 people already flew from Ukraine…..
Dear friends, for the first time in my life I am, we are confronted with a war in Europe. I never thought that this would happen. This war is very close to us and we see horrible pictures and documentaries about this war on tv since 6 days now! 600.00 of refugees already flew across the boarders into he EU. Ukraine is very close to Germany and the rest of Europe. I am watching the news every day, every hour to stay informed, to know , what to do next, how I can help in this situation. Of course, I am praying that the war will stopp. I am packing and preparing my bags, my car, my house for any emergyncy situation, whatever this situation might be, including nuclear attacks or attacks on nuclear power plants in the Ukraine. I don’t have fear, the Ukraine people and president Selensky are real examples for me , they fight for their freedom! Love to you all! Doris Be
Dear Friends,
here in Europe I follow a very critical situation and that is that easily a war can start between Russia and Ukraine.
In the newspaper I reed that the Ukraine’s are packing their back pack. It is so close.
I pray for freedom and a solution for them to be find.
It is a situation I have not thought before as an emergency that war could happen here, so close.
I am happy that I have packed my back pack already. I know we will have the Unit 2 where we will focus on leaving and the back pack. I feel very grateful for what we are doing together and the support that we have for each other.
Love to everyone
Thank you for letting us know how you are. I can’t imagine dealing with the reality of this invasion so close to home and the far reaching effects it has on the people of Europe. I only get information on the news, it was so helpful to hear from you. Please be safe and let us know how you are doing. And if you need anything……
Thank you Bartleby, for the update.
This fire event in your area, Boulder/Louisville and Superior, was another of those particularly intense and sudden events that we now have to learn about.
When the people at Costco went in, the air was clear and the sun shining.
When they walked out, the visibility was about 3 yards.
First, I note the importance of always knowing where my car is, well enough to find it in this kind of situation. Near the cart station is not enough, since the cart station may be invisible.
Second, the loudspeaker inside Costco said the building might be on fire, drop everything!
And third, the message was also to GO EAST!
The parking lots at Costco are very large, and, just like one would note the stair exits when entering a high-rise, in this situation knowing where the East was, would have been very helpful, since there was no visible sun.
Luckily there were firetrucks and firemen helping people get away.
For me a wake-up call to be so much more aware at all times: I might have parked my car too far away, and not known the way out to the East. I may also not have been listening to the very specific and helpful announcement on the loudspeakers. In which case I might have been one of those people blocking the exit with a very large cart.
The little video about this scene that went viral :
Costco video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBJnBFDnaYE
I have been doing some research about what to do in case of an evacuation and I know I need to start taking action like putting a blanket and water in my car. What about heat? The people stuck on the highway in Virginia ran out of gas because they had to stay warm. I found a simple heating source that can be made with bricks and rubbing alcohol but even Crisco can be used. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saXREHrlAIk
Thank you CJ. All of the possible emergencies that Kalindi was preparing us for are becoming a reality. It is all in the mainstream now of how to prepare. You Tube Videos and even on the CNN page the other day that posted a list of what to pack for an evacuation. Time to pack and be prepared!!
Dear Everyone,
A quick update to let you know that The Lady and her extended team are doing okay after the hurricane force winds and the devastating fires that you might have heard about on the news. Last Thursday we experienced hurricane force winds across Colorado gusting up to 120 mph in some places. As a result of the powerful winds power lines came down, power poles blew over, structures were destroyed and crashed into power lines and all sorts. As a result eight separate fires broke out in our county, Boulder County. One fire was 100 meters from the team house! It burned for 8 hours and was finally put out by the brave and skilled fire crew.
We watched it carefully as the direction of the winds were blowing the fire towards The Lady’s house, only one mile away. We watched and made plans to evacuate if needed.
In the meantime ten miles down the road in a town called Superior a fire started, at the same time, in open space grasslands and in no time at all, blew right into that town, and the adjacent town of Louisville and, in 12 hours, burned 1000 houses and businesses. People were given one minute to leave their house or business. And there was nothing anyone could do to stop it until the winds died down. It was a terrible and tragic day for many. As of today, Sunday, two people are missing, but miraculously no one died.
We are okay and sobered, once again. Thank you all for your love and support. Sending you our deepest appreciation for all you are doing to be prepared. Love Bartleby
Thank you Bartleby for the update and letting us all know that The Lady and Her Team are OK and how you navigated the fire situations.
I was house sitting at work. The neighborhood where my boss’s 74 year old mother lived was evacuated. Her neighbors came over to tell her – she had no idea. She literally threw things in her car. Gathered up what she could with her dog and drove over. Luckily she was able to drive herself and I didn’t need to go and get her. We talked in the morning about creating little “to go” bag for her and how she could be prepared.
When I was at physical therapy the next day – evacuations were the topic of conversations. Alex, my PT, lived in a pre-evcuation neighborhood. He and his wife packed their car and he was up until 4 am waiting to see if they needed to evacuate. At one point he realized that he had everything for his wife and his dog, but had forgotten to pack any clothes for himself. He was also touched that everyone he worked with had reached out to him and offered him a place to stay. There was a coming to gather for their staff as that all left work early that day to take care of their families. I talked to him about out Emergency Preparation classes and he was so interested. There were many other stores that morning of people’s experiences.
Yes it is all so sobering and I feel so very grateful for how Kalindi really did set us up and for this focus on Emergency Preparedness. Thank you to The Lady and the Emergency Prep Task Force.
Thank you Bartleby for letting us know how all of this affected the team and The Lady. I had no idea that the fire got so close to your house.
Our house in Arvada, was put in pre-evacuation as well. I just got home from being away for the holidays and was the only one here. I packed up all our go bags into my car, which are staged in the garage, I also called my housemates to find out if there are other valuables of there that they wanted packed up too. And then I waited and watched the news until the winds died down and the pre-evacuation notice was lifted, grateful Kalindi set us up to be prepared..
This was a first direct experience for me. And a good opportunity to practice being equipoised. I also was grateful to have my community. I called Pete, who helped me out and several people in the area called to check if I needed any help.
I start every meditation with gratitude for my good fortune in this life, to have met Kalindi and having been given a way home and a spiritual perspective to how the world is changing. I pray for the people who have been affected by these fires and for everyone affected by the illusion and without a path Homeward.
Love,
Donna
in the last two days I felt so much doubt and fear about what is happening in the world and what my way to God is all about. It was so dark, so terrible dark and my heart was so closed, shut down.
This morning I finally could not stand it anymore. I went to a meditation on the Freedom Walk Path Side and let my heart break with all my longing for Gods help, love and light. I find trust and faith again and I will not wait so long anymore until I go on my knees and ask for help and let my heart feel the pain of my longing for Gods love.
I feel so grateful for what we have, all the support we have on Freedom Walk.
Going, going, going, going Gourasana.
Thank you Gourasana, thank you Kanlindi, thank you Lady, thank you all.
Dear Irena –
You are facing what we all need to face, and I’m grateful for you showing the way. Each time I go into meditation, I try to remember that being with God is the only thing I truly have in any situation. We may act from prayer and our best judgment, but when that is done only the prayer remains.
Dear Mary
thank you so much for your encouragement.
Yes, only prayer is left, grabbing Gods hand in trust and faith and letting go.
I also will remember that being with God is the only thing I have, that is so true.
Thank you Mary
I am really loving the consciousness that is changing from this program. My consciousness is changing in relation to death and violence and how I may die, in relation to money, possessions and addictions. I am less afraid for myself and my own safety and I am waking up to the ridiculousness of how the world lives. I was driving one day up to Fort Collins and looking at all of the mini malls with restaurants and entertainment and I realized in that moment, we live in a big Disneyland. that is what our world has become to me – food and entertainment and I have no interest. This drives me deeper into my soul where quiet, God and thoughtful intuition reside. Thank you to everyone who is facilitating and participating in this program!
I was conflicted for awhile with purchasing so many “things” for this Eprep program when consumerism is a major cause of the problems we face today. I have been allowing the conflict to build inside of me – my desire to be prepared, my desire to live on only the essentials and my consciousness around money and spending and from that internal pressure, I am receiving new awareness that is expansive and opposing things are happening simultaneously inside of me.
I have been praying to Kalindi a lot. Kalindi, show me your consciousness around money, resources, spending and material possessions. Show me how you see this area. I remember many years ago, I was confused by Kalindi’s teachings of “living on only what you need” and her teachings on money being an exchange of love (not exact quote by Kalindi but the essence of one her talks). The second thing I am doing is reading the book, The Day the World Stops Shopping. It is a vision of what would happen if the world stops shopping. I want to share some quotes from the book…
This is a quote from a Jo Huansi bushman which is a hunter and gatherer society, “Always it seemed to him to be an uncertain, precarious way to live almost entirely dependent on forces beyond one’s control”. He was referring to how we live dependent on buying everything versus their hunting and gathering society. It is interesting to read the much less hours they spend hunting and gathering than we spend at work.
“The average person in a rich country consumes 13 times more than a person in a poor country”.
“Dogs and cats use to help us dispose of our leftover food, today they have their own consumer goods – a market worth over $16 billion in the US alone. Our pets produce their own trash”.
“Every second you spend thinking about money and things is a moment that could have been spent making a greater contribution to the human community through service, the pursuit of knowledge or the life of the spirit”.
“Live simply so that others might simply live”… “consuming more than your share amounts to enriching yourself by impoverishing others”.
“Does our immersion in stuff distract us from ideas, feelings and relationships that matter most?”
In this book, the author explores the economic collapse from no shopping, “I explore the economic collapse that seems inevitable – and also discover how, even in catastrophe, we begin to adapt”.
“…find different business models for a global culture that has lost its desire to consume”.
And lastly, I signed up for a course Introductory to survival skills. It is a 3 hour course up in Morrison to teach me the basics of survival with a hands on approach. I also looked into a weekend or 6 day trip for an immersion experience of survival skills – how to build shelter, foraging plants to eat, etc.
Thank you, Betsy!
You’ve given us so much to think about.
I would very much like to know about the survival course in Morrison, if you would care to share the contact information.
I really appreciated the individual experiences I read and what I had heared
from my daughter was not as explicit. WOW the fire was so close to reality, thank God it ended.
I have found two unique EP gift ideas on Hammacher Schlemmer (hammacher.com) one is a fire/waterproof document bag (VW-96702) $34.95 or a Firefproof/waterproof document box (VW97409) $99.95. The second item is: Instant Water Activated Sandless Sandbags, 6-pk (VW97669) $54.95 or a 10′ water activated flood barrier (VW-97671) &34.95
It was wonderful to be with everyone last night on the U.S/Latin America call. I loved hearing Kalindi’s words of encouragement which helped me to want to give more and be as prepared as I can be so that I can give more. I really appreciate each person’s unique sharing. And I was very touched by Nils Mahnke’s video. Thank you Mary, Bartelby, Mark, Nils, and everyone on the call.
As I ate dinner the night of the call, I watched a video on You Tube that was a kind of random choice. The title had the word “exponentiality” in it. It made me curious. And I really liked the video for many reasons.
I shared the video with my daughters, son-in-law and my other daughter’s boyfriend. I did that because the video gives an excellent A of ABC context for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin and other digital assets have been part of my emergency planning efforts since 2017. All along the way of my journey in this area, I have been sharing information with my daughters (and many friends as well). Last year, Ben and I gave everyone Bitcoin for Christmas, including my one year old (at the time) grand-daughter Char- Char. We helped them open up accounts so that they could recieve the Bitcoin and by doing so learn how to manage and buy their own assets – which some of them are now doing. I plan to give everyone another asset this year for Christmas that will bring them into another area of learning that is a little more challenging.
I am sharing the video here because maybe you might like to learn about Bitcoin, consider owning it (if you do not already have some) as a part of your EP plan so that you have a store of value separate from the banking system and can buy food and things if and when we have bank closures or perhaps massive hyper-inflation like so many other parts of the world have experienced or are experiencing.
This is also great video in the spirit of staying connected to what is going on in the world.
I love the conversation about exponentiality – and how this type of thinking, change and growth is outside of the scope of what we know because our thinking happens inside of the sytem of thinking we operate in. It is not exponential. As an aside, exponentiality and non-linear change (hundredth monkey) have a relationship but it is not yet understood by mathematicians.
This conversation gives me great hope for the solutions that will come as we move from “fold 34” into a speed of technological change that is incomprehensible. And at the same time I recognize that there will be dire consequences that come with the changes, as we live in a world of duality.
Here is the video:

Jeff Booth, author of “The Price of Tomorrow” is speaking at a conference in this video.
Love to everyone, Melinda
Correction – The U.S./Latin America call was Friday night, not last night.
Ok
Hi All,
I am trying to locate the File of Life, I think Mary said it was available to download and print, but if not, where do I get that?
Thanks!
Leslie
Nevermind I found what I was looking for!
Hi everybody, I have a question about the N95 masks. They are available on Amazon, and I bought some. How long can they be worn, and still be effective? A day? Several days? is there a way to clean or disinfect them?
Love, Claudia
H, Claudia –
I know the N-95 masks are designed for single use in medical situations. BUT I’ve found they can be cleaned in a couple ways. You can spray them with alcohol, front and back, and let air dry between uses. You can also wash them gently by hand, rinse thoroughly in hot water, and air dry. Both procedures seem to be possible for 4-5 times before you need to have a new mask.
That said, I would do this process if you’re just wearing a mask for being in indoor public areas. If you were in close proximity to others in small spaces, I would probably only clean the mask 2-3 times before getting a new one.
Just my experience & thoughts…
Thank you Mary Winter , as I’m throwing away my KN95 mask as I’ve used it on and off for 3 or 4 months. It has a plastic breather on the right side. I have another KN95 mask without the plastic breather that I have not used yet, so I’ll use it. Thank you –
I am very grateful for all the information that has been provided on Emergency Preparedness. My thinking and my actions have shifted in many ways. I have started buying and ordering supplies (e.g. solar phone charger, water bricks, mylar blankets, emergency radio, etc). I plan on buying shampoo, soap and cleaning agents not packaged in plastic as soon as my current supply runs out. And, having to prepared is seeping into my mind in other ways. For example, I am buying really warm woolen socks instead of the cheap cotton ones I used to get. They will be worth it when It becomes really cold. It also feels good to know that we are all doing this, that we are in it together.
Dear friends
we had a very inspirational Skype call all together her in Switzerland and we had two guests which are also doing Emergency Preparedness, they where earlier in the community living in a house and did the EP and now going on.
Everybody broth so much ideas and knowledge. It was a riche exchange. Here in the climate of Europa a solar generator would not be so useful, to less sun, so we had a discussion about what would be the best for cooking to use. We sought that a gas cooker would be a good opinion.
We discussed also about how to keep us worm when the electricity is falling out. Buddy movement, warm blankets, warm socks and dresses are useful and simple.
I for myself thinking often right now about the people at the border to Polen and Belarus, how they have to live there and the countries would not want to let them in and help, it breaks my heart and opens my eyes to, that this is a world of suffering. Meditation helps me a lot.
Hi, Irena –
Thanks for telling us about how it’s going in Switzerland. It sounds as though you have a lot of support for each other, and you are naturally thinking about the most likely situations to occur in your area. I think that is the best way to begin, because you have a sense of what could go wrong and can make a plan to adapt.
I am also in tears about the migrants on the border of Belarus and Poland. We are seeing this in may parts of the world (migrations from island nations to higher ground; Haitians escaping political turmoil and street gangs; Sudanese escaping war; other Africans leaving dried up agricultural areas…). Migration is a large concern and growing, as changes occur in climate, politics, economies.
Meditation is so critical to be able to care more, to release the pain and frustration, and to become equipoised so we can help others. A daily need.
Love to you.
In Germany and other places in Europe you get your bread and other items from the bakery in a paper bag. These bags can be reused to pack your snack or for the bio garbage (Bio Müll) in Germany for example.
I’ve also been thinking of possible scenarios at home, I think a common one would be power outage so I loved the topic of getting to know the place we live in. I did a tour with my husband and learned about the electricity and water situation at home. We do not have gas but we have a gas grill on the balcony so I already bought an extra gas bottle for the grill for cooking/warming in case of power outage. We have cats so we could use the cat litter for the feces on a bucket on the balcony until we can bury it. I bought a good foldable shovel at the Globetrotter shop in Munich.
The change to cake format shampoo and soap is not difficult and they are everywhere available now, at least in Germany. Than you for all of the ideas and contributions, very helpful.
Thanks for your ideas too! We also have two cats at our house. It is amazing when you really get to know your home and think about what can do recycle or reuse or do differently – all of these ideas happen!!
Hi, Vero! it´s good to read your message and get ideas. I hope you are well, it´s been a loong time…!
In my house we recently did a tour to learn about the electricity and water situation in the house.
It was good to learn the details on how to turn it on/off that only my husband knew, realize some small things that needed to be repaired and also begin to build a “team feeling” in the house. Specially because my niece is not involved in the Mission and is not familiar with EP.
Love,
Ana
Hi everyone,
I’m wondering how people are doing getting started with the amazingly thorough assignments and checklists we have been provided on the site? I realized after considering how to approach this task that one way was to think about how our household might be affected by different “shelter in place” scenarios. The most likely might be
* a power outage,
* a supply chain issue,
* a medical emergency.
*and perhaps needing to shelter in the basement for a tornado or storm.
Then I thought, ok as a house we should go through what we would need to deal with in each case.
For a power outage the obvious is lighting, heat, cooling. But also our electric kitchen appliances will be affected and we will be unable to cook. and we would have no hot water in the house.. From that angle, I could really tackle the project and see
* what we were missing,
* what we needed to educate ourselves about and
* make a game plan for anticipated problems before the crisis was upon us and our minds froze up a bit.
After we deal with these more probable emergencies we can go on to the less likely issues of a gas leak, water main breaking, etc.
Anyway, I thought it would be good to share how we are all doing moving forward from the presentation on Sheltering in Place.
Love,
Donna
Thank you, Donna! it helped me to read your sharing. Very clear thinking.

Ana
Question about the printed EP Booklets
I was thinking about the EP Booklets this morning. How can we get copies of these? I wondered if they could be available through the Bookstore? They could be a free gift? In our conversations with people, if we don’t have the actual booklets with us to give away, we could direct them to the Center Website? Something to think about and talk about.
Thank you for letting me know who to get some copies.
Linda
For anyone reading this – the Emergency Preparedness Booklet is already FREE and DOWNLOADABLE the Bookstore.
Thanks for the questions, Linda.
We have a few boxes of booklets at my house and will send out an announcement about that. (People can text or email me their requests.)
We also have more boxes in storage, and will announce a more permanent way to access those in near future (like next week).
And as you pointed out, there is a downloadable PDF version on this website.
A result of the Sheltering In Place Event, I felt a true call to action. I spent some time looking through the abundance of information and the beautiful organization of this site. Thank you seems inadequate for all of the shared experiences, work, research and coordination to put all of this together for us. So very important for all of us.
I printed the overall Program and many of the sections from Sheltering in Place. We are updating an EP House Notebook. Our house met this morning, Sunday, for 2 hours. We realized that we have work to do debriefing in the garage and storage rooms. Pre-EP organized before we move forward. We rolled up our sleeves and worked on the garage on Saturday and the Storage Rooms on Sunday. We embraced the “get to know your home”. We all took a tour together to learn about and see the fuse boxes, shut off values, etc. We took photos, made labels. We have a plan to meet each Sunday for the next period of time to really get going together. We had some lively discussions, have some good To Do’s Lists going. Taking it all one step at a time in support of each other.
Looking forward to participating and sharing in this discussion space.
I watched a doc. about plastic and it said that EVERY BIT OF PLASTIC THAT HAS BEEN MADE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF PLASTIC IS STILL ON EARTH.. IT NEVER DISINTEGRATES !
Look for common items that are biodegradable such as garbage bags, dry detergent packaged in cardboard, products that come in cake form, such as body soap, shampoo, and conditioner that are sold in biodegradable packaging. Maybe we could get a hundred monkey effect going.
Can you please share de link or the name of the doc? I would like to learn more about it. Thank you!!
Hi, Victoria –
I don’t have the site Shelley mentioned (though I have seen it, and if I find it, I’ll post it). But plesae check out this link: https://apple.news/A726K4sGITiiWL0r4XUwAqA
Shelly I found tooth paste tablets that I like very much that are packaged in tin. The Brand is HUPPY.
Also, I have tried the borax for toilet cleaning and have been disappointed. It works poorly for me, do you have another suggestion. I remember we used to use Amonia when I was a kid. but that’s pretty intense. I bought a plastic bag drying rack I am trying to reuse all of it.
Here is a link where you can put in your address and it shows you what your area will look like in a disaster, e.g. a flood. It also has has great tipps how to do your part for a change to the better:

Thank you Mary and Bartleby, and everyone who has shared and commented here. Thank you Lady for this focus. Since the EP event and follow up calls, I’ve been educating myself more on this topic. It is confronting for the whole family, we’re discussing hidden/difficult topics and facing our feelings, finding ways to move forward together with more consciousness. Everyone’s perspectives are helping and definitely guiding us to have more compassion and forgiveness. We ‘re also asking our children for their ideas on how to be more eco-friendly – it’s something they actively do through our education system and forest school, so they often have really great ideas for recycling and reusing. I love this topic very much. Thank you. Lariikka
Food for Thought
To confront the climate emergency, the amount we consume needs to drop dramatically. Yet every day we’re told to consume more. We all know about air pollution – but there’s a kind of “brain pollution” produced by advertising that, uncontrolled, fuels overconsumption. And the problem is getting worse.
Advertising is everywhere, so prevalent as to be invisible but with an effect no less insidious than air pollution. A few years ago, an individual in the US was estimated to be exposed to between 4,000 and 10,000 adverts daily.
Bartleby from The Guardian
Thank you Bartleby. This make me feel more consciousness about the “brain pollution”; I can see how I suffer it.
I received a clothing catalogue today that has every which kind of lovely thing to buy. I look at them and just feel wow this sort of consumerism is a way to get a feeling of relief from the reality of this world. They were so appealing and at the same time repelled.
My friend drove me to my doctor appointment today and on the way back it started raining very hard. She had to be so careful and pay close attention to the road, the other cars and her driving. What I noticed and appreciated most was her calmness. It is important to remain calm when all around us is chaotic. No matter what situation we find ourselves in these days we must be as calm and equipped as possible. Our lives and the lives of others around us depend on it. Thank you
Gracias por recordar ese lugar de calma que es estar con Dios!
Donna, thank you so much for the quote you gave us. I use it almost daily now.
I have made some changes that I would like to recommend regarding the environment. How to use less plastic: Change over to dry detergent in a biodegradable cardboard container. This is a very easy change to make and saves a lot of water. Liquid detergent in a plastic container is 40 to 90 % water. I am using a cake shampoo that comes in a biodegradable container. If anyone is interested please contact me and I will make other suggestions about cleaning supplies and ways to use less plastic.
Dear Shelley, thank you for sharing. I really appreciate to hear what other people are doing. Regarding plastic reduction I got myself some lightweight clothes bags to go shopping with that I use to transport fruit and vegetables. That way I do not need to transport them in these one-time use plastic bags. Would love to hear more things from you that work for you.
Suzie, other ideas: to not use Ziplock bags -instead use tupperware or reusable bags. If I need to use a ziplock bag I wash it and then reuse it.
In general I get inspired by the 5 R: reject, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle. 🙂
Shelley, it is also very important to choose biodegradable detergent. Regular detergents are polluting to the environment, affecting water and life chain.
Shelley,
I think it would be helpful if you post other suggestions about cleaning supplies, my house and probably others are very interested.
Thank you
Bartleby
I have started using Laundry Strips from a company called True Earth. There is another that is a little less expensive but this company donates their laundry strips to homeless shelters and food banks. They say they are available at Costco on line and they are currently running a 40% off sale for a years worth. I like the results too.
At the last meeting supply chain problems were mentioned. Since then I have read 3 articles about supply problems. China, from where we get many, many products, is having a major energy crisis and has shut down many factories or cut back on hours. The main problem in the US now is a pile up of container ships waiting to be unloaded on the west coast.
Hi Shelley, thank you for sharing about the supply chain problems. This is certainly also a growing problem in Europe. What actions and consequences are coming for yourself are coming out of this?
I woke up today with so much swirling in my head. I knew I needed to calm down. I did talk with my housemate which helped tremendously. Then I remembered from last night’s call to STAY POSITIVE. From that point I was able to move into my day with a positive approach and do the next thing. I said the names of the neighbors I knew and talked to one today. It is God’s love that I am responsible to give and give and give and never stop giving. Thank you Mary and Bartleby and to everyone.
Thank you, Kathleen. It is inspiring to read your sharing.
Gracias Angel! esa muy inspiradora.
Even as we, in the United States and Latin America, were on the Emergency Preparedness follow up call last night, Monday evening, talking about it being wildfire season in Colorado, a new wildfire erupted outside Silverthorne, Colorado., prompting evacuations. It’s called thje Ptarmigan fire.
Hi to everyone and thank you to those who have already shared on this page.
This morning’s quote from Breaking the Cycle felt very pertinent to this topic of having a spiritual perspective in the midst of calamity. It is quote #378. Also #377 was inspiring to me; to keep talking to people about emergency preparedness and climate change. And to be the change I want to see in the world. I have made quite a few lifestyle changes since the presentation on September 11: eating vegetarian, using less water, keeping emergency preparedness in the forefront and taking the care needed to have the things on hand or packed, talking to my dental hygienist and cousin about emergency preparedness and climate change.
It is all very sobering and has brought new perspectives into my daily thoughts and into my heart.
Here is quote #378:
“As you increase your spiritual awareness and you become spiritually satisfied, then no matter what happens to you, you will be fine. The conditions of this world will not influence you, at least to the degree that you are aware your consciousness will not be disturbed. That does not mean that there will not be some suffering, if you starve to death, but it means that it will not disturb your consciousness. You will see yourself detached from the circumstances. But you will see it with awareness and you will be able to tolerate the circumstance. And upon the death of the body, you will be able to leave with a state of presence and control, rather than in a panic, hysterical and lost.”
Love,
Donna Ashenberg
I feel really God is coming into my life and pushing me out of my resistance, pushing me this way and that way, ok now this, letting go of that which I planed to do right now because something else is happening right now, change, change, change and it feels like in a flow and the answer to my prayer.
Also fear is coming up, fear of loosing control, but thank you Kalindi for the tool you gave me, to scream into a towel, to calm down and trust.
What really touched me most deeply is the part of the September 11 presentation about including our children in all the information we are receiving / emergency preparedness. I have had different conversations with my daughter of 8years about emergency preparedness, the 100th monkey theory and the elevation of your own consciousness…. Quote. These conversations have been very valuable.
For the German speaking people with children: here is a link about how to practically include children in emergency preparedness with information, downloads, movies to watch etc about the different aspects of emergency preparedness. https://www.max-und-flocke-helferland.de/DE/Filme/filme_node.html
Unfortunately this exact information is only available in German but maybe similar information can be found in other languages.
thank you Suzie for sharing this link. I will watch it.
Thank you Suzie, I will check this out. I have been thinking about how to talk with Siard about this, he’s now 12 years old but I thought the documentary from Netflix is a bit too much. This might be a good resource.
When so much around us seems to be falling apart, knowing we are being cared for in this way is some comfort.
And – we don’t know how each day will go, but I do know I want to feel, find and trust God, scream when I need to, calm down and help – equipoised.
When considering the role of Emergency Preparedness in a spiritual life, one thing to consider when thinking about Emergency Preparedness is that Kalindi once said, ‘Don’t people know that Emergency Preparedness is God’s way of taking care of His children.’
Dear Angel, thank you for the quote from Kalindi. Loving reminder of the consciousness to have in this situation.
Thank you Angel, I also really love your comment from Kalindi. It is good to keep that in mind, if we get worried.
thank you Angel,
it brings such a change of consciousness to me.
